Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer videography or DJ services?
We offer even better, in your choice of several videographers and DJs. Over the years, we have befriended some of the best professionals, who are all incredibly talented, dependable, fair in price, and some of the nicest people in the industry. When you book Rising Star as your photographer, we will share with you our preferred vendors, to ensure you have the dream team of professionals your wedding day deserves (note: you can hire your own vendors as well). It is so important to build a trust with your vendors, and to know 100% who is showing up on your wedding day. Let every professional specialize in their direct talents, rather than hiring a one-stop shopping service, where you literally have no clue who is working with you until the week or, sadly, the morning of your wedding.
Your wedding package includes 10 hours. What if I need more time?
From our years of experience, we have found that the vast majority of wedding day timelines require 10 hours from getting-ready pictures to reception open dancing. Often, too much open dancing can be captured, when guests want to be left alone at a realistic point of time. In the beginning stages of wedding planning, it is often very confusing to determine the total photography hours needed, or your timeline is simply not established. Let us help you secure this. Bottom line, unless you are having one of these three options, you will probably not need more than 10 hours of actual photography: 1. morning church ceremony (such as 11:00am). 2. Sparkler send-off at the end of the evening. 3. You 100% want the last dance captured because it will be something special. If these options do not apply, trust us, 10 hours is ample.
You include 10 hours in your wedding package. What if I need less time?
If you are having a full-day wedding, you are probably not going to need less than 9-10 hours of photography. It’s possible 7-8 hours will suffice in your timeline, but this is in the minority. A 7-8 hour day usually contains the same exact elements as 10-hour day, just a more intense amount of work in a shorter time. We typically prefer more time to truly capture your story without rushing.
I am having a smaller wedding and truly only need 2-5 hours of photography.
Though not the norm, we understand this will happen a few times a year. Simply put, let’s discuss your wedding in great detail and supply a custom quote. Note: smaller wedding packages are only offered on Fridays, or in the winter months.
No worries at all. We have photographed over 600 weddings, and have seen everything. We will help you plan your day so there is ample time for everything. Remember, we truly want you to have the absolute best day ever. With all the planning, time and money spent, you owe it to yourself to enjoy every minute, and not rush or stress.
What’s your photography style?
We believe every wedding is unique based on your location, timeline, personalities and preferences. Therefore, we want our images to be contemporary, vibrant and timeless, while expressing your wedding day experience, not someone else’s. Every wedding gets its own individual attention to photograph and enhance in the proper fashion.
Do you offer engagement or portrait sessions?
Yes, we love engagement, high school senior, family and maternity sessions. Please click on our PRICING link, and scroll down past the wedding section for further details.
What if we just want one wedding photographer?
We feel that one photographer just can not give you the diversity of shots that we can. Our reputation has been built upon our ability to fully accommodate you throughout the day, and we can only continue that as a team. Plus, having two photographers is a real security in the extremely rare case an absolute emergency were to occur.
Can you apply filters to our photos?
The short answer is yes, but what we’ve learned is that filters are almost too subjective to be successful. Let’s talk about your vision and go from there. Your gallery will be enhanced where needed, such as exposure, color, blemish removal, eye enhancement, crucial object removal, and custom items we will discuss in our consultation.
What if we have people who don’t like getting their picture taken?
Not to worry — we see this all the time! After all, this is the big day, so the nerves are bound to be a little raw. First, remember that we build a relationship with you well before the wedding day. Second, we have a variety of ways to make even the most apprehensive person feel comfortable. In fact, we even have what we call shake-the-nerves compositions.
What if I have questions before the wedding?
We can’t say this enough: we are here for you before, during and after! We can help you with your wedding day plan. This isn’t just our job. This is our calling. We encourage you to call us with questions or concerns.
How do I hire you as my wedding photographer?
When possible, we would love to meet you for a fun introductory meeting. We require a signed, one-page contract and a deposit to hold your date. The deposit is deducted from your total. Your remaining balance is due 48 hours before your wedding day. Many couples choose to pay their balance at our wedding consultation, one month before your wedding.
